Typical lateness
Tuesday, April 26, 2008
Been kinda busy in real
life, so I wasn't able to get a patch out
for my site's seventh birthday.
Well, now we have a finished translation of Dragon Scroll for NES.
If you really enjoyed how the original Legend of Zelda set you off on a
quest
with no real idea where to go or what to do, here you go.
While the game can be beaten in only an hour or two if you know where
everything is, good luck on that last, especially if you plan to do it
without help.
I'll probably whip up an English walkthrough soon.
(I wonder how quickly the TAS crowd could beat it?)
April Fools?

I have a bonus patch out
today!
It is for Stargazers, one of the best NES RPGs ever made.
You owe it to yourself to play this and experience the intricate
storyline and finely crafted battle system.
This game has so many secrets to uncover, you'll be at it for weeks.
Check it out.
Puzzled Out A New System!
Friday, February 29, 2008
On this rare calendar
today, I have chosen to release a completed translation of
Puzzle Boy for the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine.
It is a block-pushing puzzle game, and you may recognize its cousin, Kwirk
for the Game Boy.
It also come out on the Famicom Disk System, though I believe each version
has some slightly
different puzzles.
Mainly I did it as a learning exercise on the PC Engine hardware. And I'm
only a week off
its original release date! :D
Go check it out!
Deep Dungeon bugfix!
Tuesdau, January 22, 2008
I have recently found
some cheat codes for Deep Dungeon (I'll plug my forum for more info
One of the cheats allowed you to guarantee the next hit would be a
deathblow. I have
taken the opportunity to exploit this trick in order to address a bug that
exists in both
my patch and the original game.
The problem is that if you have over 85 AP (only really possible if you hold
Ruu's Blade),
the calculated AP value used for the hit would be enough to overflow the
damage counter.
While a true fix would extend the relevant variables to 2 bytes, I think
that is a small piece
of work for relatively little payoff (only the bosses have enough HP where
it matters).
So, I instead made two patches. One that caps the calculated AP, the other
that caps damage.
I have created versions for both a Japanese disk image, as well as an image
already patched
with my translation. (if combining it with the translation,
apply the translation patch
first THEN
apply the bugfix)
Bug!
Tuesdau, January 8, 2008
If anybody's playing my
Shell Monsters Story, I have to warn of a bug I've just gotten a report.
From what I can tell, it is a bug in the original game. When in the scenes
with multiple enemy parties, make sure
to use the "Manual" battle mode, or else you may be warped to the wrong
location after winning.
Fixor!

Thanks to ugetab for
writing some code to fix the Genius Bakabon patch. I have applied it, and I
also fixed a couple other minor problems with the previous patch.
Again, make sure to read the
instructions carefully.
I recommend using Nestopia or
FCEUltra XD SP to play.
New release!
Friday, August 31, 2007
I was down for a little
while this summer do a hard drive error, or something requiring me to get a
new PC.
Well, I've come close to
finishing another project. I'm stuck at it, and not really sure where to go
to fix this, so I present a 99.5% finished patch for The Genius Bakabon, aka
Heisei Tensai Bakabon, for the NES.
Go check it out on the Current Projects page.
MAKE SURE TO READ THE
INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. Use a program like my tool NFLATE, to expand the ROM
first.
Any NES experts able to help track down a minor nametable bug?
Update soon!
Tuesday, May 1, 2007
I missed my site's sixth
birthday, back on April 14. It's been kind of a busy year with school.
But it's done soon. And then I can begin to get into working on my projects
alot more.
Hopefully, they'll be out in the next month or two.
It's alive!

I have finished the translation of Jelly
Boy 2, and now it has an "official" release.
I updated the graphics I could insert in the previous patch. Also, to
romhacking.net's pleasure,
I have included both Ninja-format (.rup) and the traditional IPS-format patches.
Just remember that the ROM WILL have a bad checksum, since it's a prototype game.
Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. Enjoy the game.
Are you gellin'?
Sunday, August 27, 2006
A couple days ago, I released a patch
for Jelly Boy 2 over on the romhacking.net message board.
Not having access to my website on my computer I was posting on, I stuck it on
geocities for a time.
With several requests, I am posting it here.
I'll work on a page later.
Jelly Boy 2 English patch
For those who don't know, Jelly Boy 2 is a platformer game for the SNES.
It stars a boy named Marine, who has been turned into a slime. Him, as well as his
four friends and his
dog, have the ability to cling to walls.
Marine has to search out the Jelly Land amusement park to locate his friends, and
defeat the jester
who has transformed them.
It is a fun game, and the bosses will provide a decent challenge to defeat.
It was developed by Game Freak, but was cancelled by Sony before publication
anywhere.
Chris Covell translated this. He also translated the first game in this series,
Jerry Boy (after the
plot was dropped entirely from that game's US release "Smart Ball").
He did a good job with the translation, and he also designed a great new title
screen
I need to work back into the game (limited space for compressed graphics is giving
me a shellin').
So, go play the translation. Isn't your anticipation swellin'?
Be sure to read the readme for important information about the patch, before you
start yellin'.

where the new translation is...

I have released a translation patch for
The Great Maze for the NES.
Go grab the patch, and as always...

no ROM requests.
Yes, I'm aware of the date
Tuesday, June 6, 2006
...and what's more evil than translation
patches? Magna Braban patch 1.0 is up. Happy 6/6/6. Uploading it at 6:06 UTC ('cause I'll
be sleeping or working at 6:06 local time).
Script Listings up
Thursday, May 18, 2006
I've posted a listing of the scripts
I've dumped or nearly dumped, if anybody's interested in translating them.
Five years come and gone
Saturday, April 15, 2006
Well, it has now been
five years since I first opened up my original page on Geocities, and four years
since moving to emuxhaven.
Wow, half a decade! Lots of fun times, and hopefully more good games to come.
Well, to celebrate, I'm releasing a translation patch for Deep Dungeon for the FDS.
I am also celebrating with a new look for the site. Pretty good, I hope. |
